San Diego, California – A 39-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a Toyota Prius while crossing a street in Pacific Beach on Wednesday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision occurred around 7:41 p.m. in the 2500 block of Grand Avenue. Police said the victim was walking across the roadway when he was struck by a westbound blue Prius driven by a 48-year-old woman.
Authorities reported the man suffered multiple severe injuries, including a spinal fracture, a brain bleed, a dislocated knee, and a collapsed lung. He was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
SDPD Officer Jose Perales confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The department’s Traffic Division has taken over the investigation.
