How to File a Compensation Claim After a Box Truck Hits a Pedestrian or Cyclist

Accidents involving box trucks often lead to severe injuries, especially when the victims are pedestrians or cyclists. Because of the size and weight of these vehicles, collisions can result in broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, or life-threatening conditions. If you or a loved one were struck, knowing how to file a compensation claim can make the difference between recovering damages and being left with overwhelming expenses.

Step 1: Seek Immediate Medical Attention

Your health is always the top priority. Even if injuries don’t appear severe at first, medical records will serve as critical evidence when pursuing compensation.

Step 2: Report the Accident and Gather Evidence

File a police report and, if possible, collect witness statements, photos of the scene, and the driver’s information. This documentation will strengthen your claim.

Step 3: Contact Specialized Attorneys

Legal representation is essential. Experienced pedestrian accident attorneys can guide injured pedestrians through the claims process, ensuring that evidence is preserved and deadlines are met. Similarly, skilled bicycle accident attorneys help cyclists prove liability and pursue full compensation against trucking companies and insurers.

Step 4: File Your Claim Promptly

California law imposes strict deadlines on personal injury cases. A personal injury attorney in Anaheim, Fullerton, and other locations in Orange County can help ensure that your claim is filed correctly and on time, maximizing your chance of success.
