Can You Sue When a Minor Causes an Accident?

You can sue when a minor causes an accident—but there are important legal nuances.

In most cases, the minor’s parents or legal guardians may be held financially responsible, especially if the minor was driving with their permission or under their supervision. California, for example, has specific laws that hold parents liable for damages caused by their minor children in car accidents, particularly if the parent signed the minor’s driver’s license application or allowed them to use the vehicle.

If the accident involved gross negligence or criminal behavior, both civil and possibly criminal consequences could follow. If you’re looking for a Fresno car accident attorney, call Megeredchian Law at (888) 243-2050. You can also visit us at 1444 Fulton St, Fresno, CA 93721. Hablamos Español.
