Bakersfield, California – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who lost his life in a DUI-related incident while walking across East California Avenue.
The victim, 34-year-old Anthony Gregory Martinez of Bakersfield, was hit by two vehicles as he crossed the 700 block of East California Avenue, just east of Baker Street, around 8:53 p.m. on May 9.
He was transported to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m., according to the coroner’s report.
Police previously identified the first driver to hit Martinez as 30-year-old Timothy Suniga. Authorities arrested Suniga at the scene after determining he was under the influence of alcohol.
