Long Beach, California – A woman was killed Friday night after being struck by a vehicle in Long Beach, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 36th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Responding officers found that a vehicle traveling southbound on Atlantic had struck a pedestrian as she crossed the street.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Police stated that the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
“Speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have contributed to this collision,” the department said in a statement.
