[08-28-2025] San Diego County, CA – Truck Accident in Vista Starbucks Drive-Thru Damages Several Cars

Vista, California – Authorities say a man was taken into custody on Wednesday after allegedly driving his Toyota Tundra into several vehicles, beginning at a Starbucks drive-thru and continuing across multiple locations in Vista.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the first collision happened around 2:05 p.m. in the 1700 block of West Vista Way, when the driver intentionally struck another vehicle in the Starbucks drive-thru before speeding away.

A short time later, the suspect reportedly collided with a second vehicle at the intersection of West Vista Way and North Emerald Drive, then fled that crash as well.

Deputies soon began pursuing the truck, with the driver deliberately ramming into several other vehicles during the chase, officials said. The pursuit ended near Valencia Drive when the Tundra became disabled.

The man abandoned the truck and attempted to escape on foot, but was caught by officers on the center median east of Valencia Drive. Deputies said they used a WRAP restraint device to secure him safely.

In total, investigators reported the suspect struck five vehicles, leaving multiple victims with minor injuries.

He was transported to a local hospital before being booked on several felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to authorities.
