Last night, around 11:50 p.m., three people were tragically killed, and at least two more were injured in a gruesome multi-vehicle car accident in Burbank. Police are suspecting this was a possible hit-and-run accident that left one car almost broken in half.
On Tuesday night, the police and the firefighters rushed to North Glenoaks Boulevard and Andover Drive and came upon a terrible car accident scene. Two people were ejected from one car after the impact, and one person was trapped in a vehicle that was, at that moment, on fire.
Another car was ”broken in half”, according to the Burbank Police Department spokesman. They also stated that at least three vehicles were involved in the crash, but they gave no statement about whether speeding was involved. Following the accident, at least two people were transported to the trauma center. There was also considerable damage done to the cars parked nearby.
Hit-and-run Car Accident Claim
While in most car accidents, it is easy to determine who is liable for the accident, a hit-and-run accident implies that the person liable for the accident has left the scene of the crash. This kind of behavior is illegal in California, and the California Vehicle Code 20002 states that any time someone is involved in a car accident resulting in property damage or injuries, they are required to stop and exchange personal information with the other participants of the accident. Drivers who flee the scene after colliding with another vehicle, a pedestrian, or a fixed object (such as a building) are committing a criminal offense by not stopping.
This can cause many issues to those injured in a hit-and-run accident. Since the liable driver cannot be traced, those injured are not able to make a claim against the liable driver’s insurance, meaning they cannot ask for compensation for their injuries.
However, with the help of an experienced car accident attorney, you may be able to make a claim through the Untraced Drivers Scheme. This scheme enables those injured in a hit-and-run to be adequately compensated for both property damage and injuries sustained in their accident. The scheme is operated by the Motor Insurers Bureau.
