[05-15-2025] San Diego, CA – Authorities Identify Victims of Three Separate Fatal Incidents

San Diego, California –  Authorities have released the identities of three men who lost their lives in separate traffic incidents over the weekend in San Diego County.

The first of the fatal crashes occurred Saturday in eastern Chula Vista. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, 34-year-old Jeremy Valencia of San Diego was riding his motorcycle with a group of friends when he crashed near the intersection of Otay Lakes Road and Wueste Road. Valencia was transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Later that day, another deadly crash occurred around 6 p.m. Zechariah Lanier, a 23-year-old resident of Lemon Grove, was driving when his vehicle veered off an elevated freeway ramp and plummeted onto westbound State Route 94, just east of State Route 15 in the Fairmount Park area. Lanier was pronounced dead at the scene.

The third fatality happened Sunday night around 8 p.m. in the Mount Helix area. A 2017 Ducati motorcycle, carrying two people, collided head-on with a 2019 Ford Explorer near Avocado Boulevard and Explorer Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The motorcycle’s rider, Roby Roel, 22, of El Cajon, died at the scene. His passenger, a 20-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment.
