San Diego, California – Authorities have released the names of two people who died in unrelated traffic accidents over the weekend in the San Diego region.
The most recent incident occurred Saturday night in Rancho Peñasquitos, where a three-vehicle pileup was reported shortly before 10 p.m. on state Route 56 near Salmon River Road. One of the motorists, 50-year-old Tomasz Bordyczewski of Poway, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Earlier that same day, just before 2 a.m., 31-year-old Karlene Luna of Pala was fatally struck by a vehicle while walking alongside state Route 76 near Lilac Extension Road in her hometown. Paramedics responded but confirmed she died at the site of the accident, officials said.
Both fatalities remain under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the crashes.
