Palmdale, California – A fatal multi-vehicle collision early Friday morning in Palmdale left one person dead and shut down part of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway for hours, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at 12:53 a.m. to reports of a crash near the northbound 14 Freeway at the Pearlblossom Highway exit, where several vehicles were found heavily damaged, according to CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig.
Debris from the crash was scattered across the northbound lanes, forcing the complete closure of the freeway in that area. Paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived shortly after and pronounced one victim dead at the scene. The person’s name, age, and gender have not yet been released.
The freeway remained closed for at least two hours while officers investigated the circumstances of the crash and cleared the wreckage. No details were immediately available on what caused the collision or whether any other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not disclosed when the northbound lanes fully reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
