How to Seek Compensation After a Cyclist’s Death in an Accident

Losing a loved one in a bicycle accident is a devastating experience, especially when it was caused by someone else’s negligence. In California, certain family members may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim to recover damages for funeral expenses, lost financial support, and emotional suffering. These cases often arise when a cyclist is hit by a negligent driver—whether it’s a car, truck, or even a motorcycle.

To pursue a claim, it’s essential to work with experienced wrongful death attorneys who understand California’s personal injury laws and can guide you through the legal process. You’ll need to prove that the driver owed a duty of care, breached that duty through negligence (e.g., distracted or reckless driving), and that this directly led to the fatal crash.

Depending on the circumstances, a Los Angeles car accident attorney or Los Angeles motorcycle accident attorney may also be involved, especially if the collision involved multiple vehicles or complex liability issues. If you’ve lost a loved one in a bicycle accident, don’t face the legal battle alone.
