Gardena, California – Authorities have identified the woman killed in a hit-and-run crash in Gardena late Sunday night as 42-year-old Robin Butler of Compton.
The collision happened around 10:23 p.m. near the intersection of South Western Avenue and 148th Street, close to the West End Kitchen. Firefighters and Gardena police officers arrived to find Butler lying in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
Butler had been walking with her son at the time of the crash. The child was not injured. Witnesses reported that the driver struck Butler and fled, leaving behind part of the vehicle’s bumper and license plates.
