Long Beach, California – Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run collision Friday afternoon in Long Beach as 39-year-old Jasmine Martinez.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers responded at about 12:16 p.m. to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street after reports of a vehicle striking a woman in a crosswalk. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported Martinez to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Investigators said Martinez was walking in a marked crosswalk when a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard in the far-right lane, struck her and continued driving.

The suspected driver, identified as 33-year-old Eric Dewayne Moody, was located approximately 40 minutes later and taken into custody. He was booked at the Long Beach City Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, with bail set at $50,000.

Detectives have not yet determined whether speed, alcohol, or drugs contributed to the crash.
