Long Beach, California – One person was killed and two others were left in critical condition Wednesday after a collision between a cargo truck and a sedan in Long Beach, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Seventh Street, west of Silvera Avenue, according to Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Brian Fisk. The impact overturned the cargo truck and left multiple people trapped inside the vehicles.
Emergency crews worked to free the victims from the wreckage. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the truck were extricated with the Jaws of Life and rushed to a hospital in critical condition. The sedan’s driver was also hospitalized but suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Fisk said.
Long Beach police closed Seventh Street between Pepper Tree Lane and Campus Drive while investigators examined the cause of the crash.
