Chula Vista, California – Two men were injured Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision in Chula Vista, and one of them was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.
Officers with the Chula Vista Police Department responded around 7:50 p.m. to the intersection of Main Street and La Media Parkway after reports of a crash involving a white Mercury Sable and a black Ford Bronco.
According to investigators, the Mercury Sable, driven by 26-year-old Andrew Coronado, was heading east on Main Street when it collided with the Ford Bronco, which was traveling south on La Media.
Coronado was arrested on suspicion of DUI and later taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The 31-year-old driver of the Bronco sustained minor injuries and cooperated with officers. His name has not been released.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, though impaired driving is believed to be a factor, according to authorities.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Chula Vista Police Department Traffic Bureau at 619-476-5302.
