Long Beach, California – One person was killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 7:20 a.m., CHP Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly after and performed CPR on one of the victims. Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:51 a.m., Larsen said.
Authorities issued a SigAlert at 7:56 a.m., closing the HOV lane along with lanes 1 and 2 while emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
