Hollywood, California – A hit-and-run crash on the Hollywood (101) Freeway Wednesday morning led to a police chase, a 15-minute standoff, and major traffic delays for drivers heading toward downtown Los Angeles.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began around 8:55 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a driver suspected of fleeing a hit-and-run crash on the southbound lanes north of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The suspect failed to yield and continued south before coming to a stop near Sunset Boulevard.
Officers surrounded the vehicle and held the driver at gunpoint as traffic was diverted to the far-right lane. After about 15 minutes, the standoff ended peacefully when the driver was taken into custody.
Authorities have not released details about the victims involved in the hit-and-run or the extent of their injuries. Southbound lanes on the 101 were temporarily affected but later reopened once the scene was cleared.
