[12-15-2025] Los Angeles County, CA – One Killed in Wrong-Way Head-On Crash on Foothill Freeway in Arcadia

Arcadia, California – One person was killed early Monday morning after a wrong-way driver caused a head-on collision on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Arcadia, authorities said.

The crash was reported at approximately 2:55 a.m. on the eastbound Foothill Freeway near Baldwin Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. A sedan traveling the wrong direction collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries to one person.

Arcadia Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead, a CHP officer confirmed. The identity of the deceased was not immediately released.

Following the collision, all eastbound lanes in the area — except for the far right lane and the shoulder — were shut down at 3:39 a.m. A SigAlert was issued shortly afterward at 3:45 a.m., CHP officials said.

As of about 7:30 a.m., only the far right lane and shoulder remained open while Los Angeles County Medical Examiner personnel were on scene to recover the victim’s body. The medical examiner’s case number is 2025-19940.

The cause of the crash and how the vehicle entered the freeway traveling the wrong way remain under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Are Wrong-Way Accidents Easier to Prove (and Win) in a Personal Injury Claim?

Wrong-way accidents are often easier to prove in a personal injury claim because liability is usually clearer than in many other types of car crashes. When a driver enters a roadway or freeway traveling against traffic, that action alone frequently constitutes a violation of traffic laws and strong evidence of negligence.

In most cases, police reports, freeway camera footage, witness statements, and physical evidence from the crash scene clearly establish that one driver was traveling in the wrong direction. This reduces disputes over fault and makes it harder for insurance companies to argue shared responsibility. As a result, victims may face fewer legal hurdles when pursuing compensation with the help of an experienced car accident law firm.

Wrong-way crashes also tend to cause severe or catastrophic injuries because they often involve high-speed, head-on impacts. These factors can increase the value of a claim, as damages may include extensive medical treatment, long-term disability, lost income, and significant pain and suffering. Skilled car accident lawyers in California know how to document these losses and present compelling evidence to support maximum compensation.

When a wrong-way collision results in a fatality, surviving family members may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. In these situations, a qualified wrongful death attorney California can help families seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, and the emotional impact of losing a loved one due to another driver’s reckless behavior.

Although wrong-way accidents are often more straightforward to prove, insurance companies may still attempt to minimize payouts or raise technical defenses. Working with a knowledgeable Los Angeles car accident attorney ensures that evidence is preserved, deadlines are met, and your rights are fully protected throughout the claims process.
