Los Angeles, California – County authorities have identified César Biteranta, a 71-year-old man who was killed in a crash Monday afternoon on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights.
The collision, which involved a car and a big rig, was reported around 12:50 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Indiana Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred on the right side of the northbound lanes.
According to Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department, Biteranta was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Firefighters assisted in recovering his body following the impact.
