Phelan, San Bernardino County – A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a collision involving a sedan Thursday afternoon on Phelan Road, directly in front of El Patron Family Restaurant in Phelan.

The accident occurred around 1:27 p.m. on April 24, 2025, in the 3700 block of Phelan Road, near the Lebec Road intersection and just west of Sheep Creek Road.

Preliminary details from the California Highway Patrol indicate that both vehicles — a 2018 Harley-Davidson Street Glide with Arizona plates and a black Honda Civic — were heading west on Phelan Road.

The motorcyclist attempted to pass the Civic on the left as it was stopped, waiting to make a left turn onto Lebec Road. During the pass, the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of the Honda.

First responders found the rider unresponsive at the scene and immediately began CPR. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was rushed by ground ambulance — under Code 3 conditions, with lights and sirens — to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Apple Valley. His condition is reported as life-threatening.

Images from the scene show the motorcycle severely damaged near the shoulder of the road, with a white helmet lying in nearby brush. Debris from the crash was scattered across the roadway.

The Honda Civic suffered significant damage to the driver’s side. The woman behind the wheel, who was alone in the car, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Phelan Road was temporarily shut down in both directions between Malpaso Road and Blue Stake Road as CHP Victorville officers investigated and cleared the scene.

By 2:40 p.m., authorities had reopened the roadway to traffic.

The collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the CHP Victorville Office at (760) 241-1186.
