Long Beach, California – A 15-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a car while seated at a bus stop in Long Beach on June 11.
Officers with the Long Beach Police Department responded to the crash around 2:55 p.m. at the intersection of Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street.
According to the initial findings, the driver of an Infiniti G37 sedan was heading west on Carson Street when they allegedly ran a red light at the intersection with Palo Verde Avenue.
The Infiniti collided with a Toyota Prius that was moving south on Palo Verde. The force of the crash caused the Infiniti to flip over, veer onto the sidewalk, and strike the teenager waiting at the bus stop.
Paramedics transported the teen to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Infiniti’s driver was also hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the Prius did not suffer any injuries.
Investigators believe speed may have played a role in the collision. Authorities have not yet released the name of the 15-year-old victim.
The crash is still under active investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is encouraged to contact LBPD Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355.

How to Claim Compensation When a Pedestrian Dies in a Crash Involving More than One Car
Losing a loved one in a pedestrian accident is devastating—especially when multiple vehicles are involved and determining fault becomes complex. In these situations, the surviving family members may have the right to pursue compensation through a wrongful death claim.
The first step is to speak with experienced pedestrian accident attorneys who understand how to investigate multi-vehicle collisions. They can work with experts to reconstruct the crash, identify all liable parties, and build a strong case. In many cases, more than one driver may share responsibility—especially if one ran a red light, was speeding, or failed to yield.
If the pedestrian died from the crash, the family can file a wrongful death lawsuit. Skilled wrongful death attorneys will help recover damages for funeral costs, lost income, emotional suffering, and loss of companionship. These cases are especially complicated in cities like Los Angeles, where traffic conditions and multiple insurance companies often make the legal process more difficult.
