Los Angeles, California – A man lost his life after being struck by a Metro train in Los Angeles on Monday morning, causing disruptions to train service, according to local authorities.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed that the incident happened around 7:10 a.m. on June 16 at the Leimert Park Metro station, located in the 4300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard.
Police said the southbound K Line train hit a pedestrian identified only as a man in his 50s.
“The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics,” the LAPD stated.
The victim’s name has not been released. LAPD’s South Traffic Division is leading the investigation.
CBS affiliate KCAL previously reported that emergency crews located the man’s body on the tracks, based on information from the fire department.
