Los Angeles, California – Police are actively looking for a motorist involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a man on a bicycle with serious injuries in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles.
The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. on May 28, when the victim was riding south on the sidewalk along Hoover Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
As he entered the intersection at 20th Street, a white sedan making a left turn struck him. The collision threw the cyclist into the air and onto the pavement, as captured in surveillance video released on July 17. The driver did not stop and fled the scene at high speed.
The victim, described as a man in his 60s, was transported to a nearby hospital with significant injuries.
In a statement, the LAPD reminded drivers that anyone involved in a traffic crash must safely pull over, call for emergency assistance, and remain at the scene to provide identification.
A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the hit-and-run driver.
Because of the low-quality footage, police have not been able to determine the specific make or model of the suspect’s vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
