Long Beach, California – A pedestrian was killed Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle on a freeway transition road in Long Beach, authorities said.
The fatal collision occurred around 9:24 p.m. on the transition road connecting the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian lying on the side of the roadway.
Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The individual’s name, age, and gender have not yet been released pending notification of relatives.
The CHP closed the transition road for about three and a half hours while investigators worked to determine the circumstances of the crash.
