Huntington Beach, California – Authorities on Wednesday continued investigating a high-speed, seven-vehicle collision that killed 37-year-old Ryan Mark Larson of Huntington Beach and left several others injured, including two Orange County Probation Department officers.

The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Heil Avenue, according to Huntington Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jessica Cuchilla.

Investigators said a gray Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound on Heil Avenue at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control as the vehicle entered the intersection with Goldenwest. The Tesla collided with multiple vehicles, and debris from the impacts struck additional nearby cars, police said. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest east of the intersection.

Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced Larson, the Tesla’s driver, dead at the scene.

A witness told CBS2 the Tesla may have been traveling at more than 100 mph before clipping another vehicle in the intersection.

Firefighters transported three people — including one Orange County Probation Department officer — to local hospitals in stable condition. Several other individuals were treated at the scene. Police said the investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.

Can you pursue compensation from a deceased at-fault party after a car accident?

Yes. Even if the driver who caused the crash is killed, you can still pursue financial compensation through their insurance policy or, in some cases, through a claim against their estate. California law does not eliminate a victim’s right to recover damages simply because the at-fault party is deceased. Instead, your recovery depends on proving liability, documenting your losses, and navigating the insurance and probate processes with the support of experienced counsel.

Many families turn to a trusted car accident law firm to handle these complex claims, especially when the crash results in serious injuries or a fatality. If your case involves the loss of a family member, a wrongful death attorney california can evaluate your rights under California’s wrongful death and survival action laws, determine available insurance coverage, and fight for full compensation on your behalf.

Because these cases often involve multiple insurance carriers and competing claims, having experienced car accident lawyers in california is critical. An aggressive los angeles car accident attorney can help you pursue damages for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, funeral costs, and other compensable losses, even when the at-fault party is no longer alive.Megeredchian Law can guide you through every step of this process and fight for the maximum compensation available to you.
