Fresno, California – Traffic is once again moving on Interstate 5 near Coalinga following a major crash that shut down the roadway for several hours and left one person hospitalized.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Thursday near the Jayne Avenue exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck rear-ended another big rig and then struck a third vehicle. One of the drivers was ejected from their vehicle and airlifted to a nearby hospital. Their current condition remains unknown.
The crash also brought down power lines, prompting a complete closure of the highway.
Footage captured by ABC30 insiders showed extensive traffic jams stretching for miles late into Thursday night.
PG&E reported that crews would remain on-site into the early morning to finish repairs in the affected area.
