Los Angeles, California – A fatal pedestrian accident brought traffic to a standstill on the 91 Freeway in Paramount Monday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Cherry Avenue.
Authorities were initially alerted to a vehicle fire, with flames reportedly coming from beneath the car. The driver exited the vehicle and was then hit by another passing car.
The impact threw the individual across the median into westbound traffic, where they succumbed to their injuries. The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
Aerial footage from SkyCal captured a growing line of vehicles as CHP officers conducted their investigation, forcing closures on both sides of the freeway.
