Sun Valley, California – Two men who died in a two-car collision that also left two others injured in Los Angeles’ Sun Valley neighborhood were identified Monday by the county medical examiner’s office.
The incident occurred at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Strathern Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz.
Andrew Silva, 20, was declared dead at the scene. A second victim, 24-year-old Anthony Angulo, who sustained critical injuries, later passed away at the hospital, according to LAPD Valley Traffic Division Lt. E. Lopez.
Both deceased individuals were trapped inside one of the vehicles when first responders arrived and had to be extricated using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Two other people suffered minor injuries in the crash. Among them was a 45-year-old man who declined transport to a medical facility, Lopez added.
The crash disrupted traffic in the vicinity as emergency crews worked at the scene.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the collision.

Losing a loved one in a car accident is a devastating experience. Along with the emotional pain, surviving family members are often left facing unexpected financial burdens such as funeral costs, medical bills, and lost income. If the accident was caused by another party’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation through a wrongful death claim.
What Is a Wrongful Death Claim?
A wrongful death claim allows family members to pursue financial compensation when someone dies due to another person’s negligence or misconduct. In the case of a fatal car crash, this might include reckless driving, DUI, distracted driving, or even poorly maintained roadways.

Under California law, the following individuals are generally eligible to file a wrongful death claim:
- The spouse or domestic partner of the deceased

- Emotional suffering
Each case is unique, so it’s important to speak with California car accident lawyers who can assess your specific situation and determine the value of your claim.
How to Start the Process
To file a wrongful death lawsuit, you must gather evidence showing the other party was responsible for the accident. This may include:
- Police reports
- Eyewitness statements
