South Los Angeles, California – A 32-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run bicycle accident in South Los Angeles has been identified as Edgar Cumplido, officials confirmed Tuesday.
The deadly crash happened at approximately 10:10 p.m. on July 1. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a black Tesla Model X was speeding eastbound on 67th Street from Flower Street when it struck a bicyclist traveling in the same direction.
Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene, continuing eastbound toward Broadway, police said.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office released the victim’s identity on Tuesday.
City officials are offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver involved.
