Reseda, California – A man who lost his life in a hit-and-run collision while stepping out of his car in Reseda has been identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The deadly crash took place around 8 p.m. Friday on Victory Boulevard near Belmar Avenue, just west of Tampa Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities said the victim, 35-year-old Jose Portillo Hernandez of North Hollywood, had exited the driver’s side of his parked car when a black compact SUV traveling westbound on Victory swerved right and struck him. The SUV then continued west before turning north onto Corbin Avenue.
Emergency responders pronounced Hernandez dead at the scene.
