Sacramento, California – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning in Davis after colliding with a big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities later identified the victim as 42-year-old Christopher Barr of Dixon.
The CHP reported receiving calls about the crash at approximately 4:45 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 80, just west of Mace Boulevard.
Investigators said a Volvo tractor-trailer was driving in the middle lane of a construction zone when, for reasons still under review, Barr’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle failed to slow down and struck the rear of the truck. Barr was thrown from his motorcycle and fatally hit by another vehicle that has not yet been identified.
At this stage, CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The incident is still under investigation.
