Palmdale, California – Authorities have identified the woman killed in a violent hit-and-run crash in Palmdale as 31-year-old Chelsea Jewkes of Lancaster. The deadly collision occurred Friday evening near Avenue N and 22nd Street West, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Officers said the crash happened around 5:10 p.m. when 25-year-old K. Littiz of Compton, driving a 2008 Mercedes at a high rate of speed, attempted to pass another car by using the north shoulder. He lost control, veered into oncoming traffic, and slammed into a 2021 Lexus IS before striking the front of a 2022 Honda HR-V. Debris from the impact also damaged a 2019 Honda Accord.
Jewkes was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Three other victims, including a 32-year-old Palmdale man, were rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center with injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
Investigators believe drug impairment played a role in the fatal wreck. Both Littiz and his passenger, 22-year-old K. Wright, also of Compton, fled the crash site on foot but were later located and taken into custody. Authorities added that Littiz had been involved in an unrelated collision prior to the deadly crash.
Both suspects were booked at the Palmdale sheriff’s station.
The CHP is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact its Antelope Valley office at 661-743-6060. After hours, tips can be directed to the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200.
