Harbor City Hit-and-Run

Los Angeles, California – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying two drivers involved in a fatal crash that killed a 35-year-old motorcyclist in Harbor City.

The collision occurred around 12:55 p.m. Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway near Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Investigators said the rider was traveling eastbound on PCH when a silver van, heading west, made a left turn in front of him.

The motorcyclist lost control of his bike and was struck by an older-model pickup truck also traveling westbound. Neither driver stopped after the crash.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead. His identity and place of residence have not yet been released by the county coroner’s office.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the LAPD’s South Traffic Division at 213-677-9791 to speak with the officer leading the investigation.

Who Is Liable When Multiple People Cause a Fatal Hit-and-Run?

When a fatal hit-and-run accident involves more than one driver, determining liability becomes significantly more complex. California law allows victims’ families to pursue compensation from all responsible parties, even if they each played a different role in causing the collision.

Shared Liability in Fatal Hit-and-Runs

In these cases, liability may be divided among multiple drivers if their combined negligence contributed to the death of the victim. For example, one vehicle may have made an illegal maneuver while another struck the motorcycle rider. Both drivers can be held legally accountable for the damages. This is why families often turn to experienced wrongful death attorneys who understand how to investigate crashes involving more than one liable party.

Motorcycle Accidents and Multi-Vehicle Responsibility

Fatal crashes involving motorcycles often highlight the vulnerability of riders. When several drivers act recklessly—such as making unsafe turns or failing to yield—they may each bear responsibility. Consulting with specialized motorcycle accidents attorneys can help families identify all the parties involved and seek the maximum possible compensation.

Proving Fault in Hit-and-Run Cases

When drivers flee the scene, proving fault becomes even more challenging. Skilled hit and run accident attorneys use accident reconstruction, witness testimony, and video surveillance to track down offenders and establish liability. Even if one driver remains unidentified, others who contributed to the crash can still be held accountable.
