Long Beach, California – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Saturday night in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the man was struck around 9:05 p.m. while crossing Wardlow Road near Norwalk Boulevard. Emergency responders from the Long Beach Fire Department provided medical aid at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a white Honda CR-V driven by a 56-year-old woman from Garden Grove was traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road when it hit the man, who was walking outside of a designated crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Authorities do not believe that speed, distracted driving, or impairment played a role in the crash.
