Los Angeles, California – A 68-year-old man was killed Monday night when a suspected DUI driver ran a red light and slammed into his vehicle in the Florence area of South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 10:27 p.m. at the intersection of West 76th Street and Broadway. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim was driving eastbound in a Toyota Camry when a southbound Chevrolet Trax drove through a red light and crashed into him.
The 68-year-old man was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.
Police said the driver of the Chevrolet Trax was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The suspect, who suffered only minor injuries, was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter. Authorities did not immediately release the suspect’s name, age, or gender.
