Anaheim, California – Authorities are searching for a driver who fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash that left a 12-year-old boy hospitalized with a broken leg and concussion, Anaheim police said Monday.
The collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. Sunday near Topeka and North streets. According to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter, both the child riding an e-bike and the driver of a sedan ran stop signs before crashing into each other. The vehicle continued for about a block before it crashed, and the driver and passengers abandoned it and fled on foot.
The boy suffered a concussion, a broken leg, and multiple bruises and scrapes. He remained hospitalized Monday, Sutter said.
Investigators impounded the vehicle and found evidence inside suggesting that DUI may have been a factor in the crash. Anaheim police are continuing to search for the driver and any passengers involved.
