Los Angeles, California – Authorities have identified one of the two people killed in a rollover crash Wednesday evening on the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway interchange.
California Highway Patrol officers responded around 5:30 p.m. and found that one person had been ejected from the vehicle following a single-car rollover, according to a CHP spokesperson. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel pronounced the ejected victim dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office later identified the victim as Itziar Ramirez, 18, who died from multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries. Her city of residence was not immediately available.
A second victim from the same vehicle died while being transported to a hospital, the CHP reported. Their name, age and gender have not been released pending notification of relatives.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that shut down several lanes of the westbound freeway for approximately three and a half hours as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol.
