Officers with the Chula Vista Police Department responded around 8:50 p.m. to the 100 block of Fourth Avenue after reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision. Paramedics performed lifesaving measures at the scene before transporting the victim to a trauma center with significant injuries. His current condition remains unknown.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Authorities added that neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have contributed to the crash.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Chula Vista Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 619-476-5300.
