San Diego, California – A 39-year-old woman and her 36-year-old female passenger were seriously injured late Thursday night after their Mercedes GLC SUV slammed into a concrete wall during a suspected DUI crash in the Midway District, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision happened around 10:10 p.m. at the T-intersection of Womble and Rosecrans streets. Investigators said the westbound 2025 Mercedes continued straight through the intersection for unknown reasons and crashed into the wall.
The driver sustained severe internal injuries and required emergency surgery. Her passenger suffered a fractured pelvis and a broken right ankle, police said.
SDPD investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The department’s Traffic Division is leading the investigation.
