San Diego, California – Five people were hospitalized Monday evening after a violent, fiery collision between two vehicles in the Scripps Ranch area, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Five patients were transported to local hospitals. Four suffered major trauma, while one person was listed in critical condition. Early reports mistakenly suggested that up to five vehicles were involved, but officials later confirmed the collision only involved two.
Spring Canyon Road remained closed for more than an hour as crews worked to extinguish the fire, clear wreckage, and secure the scene. Cleanup operations were expected to continue well into the evening, Hadley said.
