San Diego, California – An 89-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after her Volkswagen Jetta collided with an SUV at a Jamacha-area intersection, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The crash happened shortly after 10:30 a.m. as the woman was making a left turn from westbound Imperial Avenue onto Viewcrest Drive. SDPD said her Jetta was struck by an oncoming Ford Excursion traveling through the intersection.
Paramedics responded and transported her to a hospital, where she was treated for multiple serious injuries, including brain bleeds, a cervical spine fracture, and a broken orbital bone, Officer Sarah Foster said.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
