
San Ysidro, California – An 83-year-old man remained hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in San Ysidro on Saturday evening, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 200 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard. A 2011 Jeep Liberty, driven by a 71-year-old man, had just exited the freeway and was traveling westbound when it hit the pedestrian, who has not yet been identified.
Police said the victim suffered a pelvic fracture and a brain bleed. He was rushed to a hospital, where his injuries were considered life-threatening.
Investigators said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the collision.
